Shotgun Willie's Information

Tucked along the main stretch of Red River, Shotgun Willie's feels like the kind of place you stumble into after a long day outdoors and end up wishing you’d found sooner. From the outside, it has that rustic mountain-town charm, and once inside, the atmosphere leans into a relaxed, no-frills diner vibe where locals and visitors mix easily.

The menu is hearty and straightforward, built around comfort food that actually satisfies after a day of hiking, skiing, or exploring the area. Burgers are clearly a highlight, thick and juicy with that slightly smoky, grilled flavor you hope for but don’t always get. One standout is their classic cheeseburger, served with crispy fries that strike a good balance between crunchy and soft. There’s also a solid lineup of sandwiches and casual plates-nothing overly complicated, just well-executed staples that hit the spot.

Breakfast options tend to draw a crowd in the mornings, and it’s easy to see why. Portions are generous without being overwhelming, and dishes like pancakes and egg platters come out hot and fresh. Coffee refills are frequent, which adds to that comfortable, sit-and-stay-awhile feeling. Based on what regulars say in reviews, consistency seems to be one of the restaurant’s strengths, which isn’t always easy in a small tourist town with fluctuating crowds.

Service leans friendly and laid-back rather than overly polished, but that suits the setting. Staff are quick to offer recommendations if you’re unsure what to order, and there’s a genuine, welcoming tone that makes the experience feel personal. Even during busier times, things tend to move at a reasonable pace, though you might wait a bit during peak hours, which is fairly typical for popular spots in Red River.

The location itself is part of the appeal. Being right on Main Street makes it easy to drop in whether you’re staying nearby or just passing through. It’s the kind of place where muddy boots and ski gear don’t feel out of place, and that casual authenticity adds to its charm. While it may not aim for fine dining or trendy presentation, Shotgun Willie’s delivers where it counts-solid food, a comfortable atmosphere, and a reliable experience that keeps people coming back.

What People's Say About Place

So fun to walk in on my first day back in Red River New Mexico wearing of course Seahawks clothing and the owner I am assuming told me about a man who worked there but had a parking spot that says Seattle Seahawks only. I feel welcome to be back for a few days!!!!

Shogun Willie’s is easily one of the best spots in Red River. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, and the staff treats you like family. It’s also one of my dad’s favorite places to go, so every visit feels a little special. We’ve never had a bad meal here—just good food, good people, and a place that keeps us coming back. Highly recommend!

Small but mighty! We came here for lunch because everything else in town, according to Google, is closed on Wednesdays. We loved the food! Portions were large; ladies you might want to split a meal with a friend. I had the loaded fries with chopped brisket, my husband had the loaded potato with chopped brisket, our son had the chicken strips with french fries and a side order of tater tots. Everything had a really great flavor and we were all extremely full! I’d definitely put this on our “visit again” list. Until next time…

Excellent place to eat, great service, good people and great environment. I will return if in town again.

The experience at shotgun Willy's was mixed. My son ordered the sausage breakfast burrito and since he'd been eating trail food for a week he said it was good. I had the brisket breakfast burrito and that was the most different tasting breakfast burrito I've ever had. It was like you take a brisket plate with hash browns and all the grease and oil that it's cooked in and you place it in a tortilla. That being said it was okay caution to any to go orders You can't eat this burrito in a car unless you already have oil all over your shirt. Overall though it was a unique fun place and I liked it.

I’m giving the burritos 5 stars. It was the only thing we ate there. The breakfast burrito with bacon is one of the BEST I’ve had in years. I went back the day we left to get another one. Staff was friendly, shop was clean, atmosphere was family friendly. Seating is minimal, but service is in and out. The coffee in my pic is from another spot..though shotgun Willie’s offers a carafe of what I assumed to be drip coffee. Would recommend and will be visiting again!

Great breakfast. 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and toast about $14. Served on a paper platr. Great Willie and other Outlaw music stuff.

A great place for simple food. Burger with green chili and cheese is incredible. The tater tot's with chili and cheese taste great, but you will probably need to share it with a few people. Nice experience great people. We will be back, and hopefully we will send others.
